John Vamos is the Independent Chair of Private Wealth Network and the Founder and Managing Director of Business Coaching Systems and Four Voices Advisory. A pioneer of organisational coaching in Australia, John brings over three decades of experience advising boards and leading strategic transformations across sectors including wealth management, construction, hospitality, technology, and philanthropy.
With a background in law and financial services, John is renowned for his expertise in business performance, governance, board effectiveness, and leadership transitions—particularly within multi-generational family enterprises. He serves as a director and trusted advisor to numerous family-owned companies and private boards.
A published author and sought-after speaker, John’s most recent work, Four Voices, explores the stewardship of family wealth, loyalty, and legacy across generations. He holds a Law degree from Macquarie University and a Diploma in Life Assurance from Deakin University and is widely credited with shaping the business coaching profession in Australia.
Lance worked from the age of 11 in the family business when it was founded in 1984 and found a passion for helping people, taking phone bookings from the age of 15 with his deep voice.
After school each day his duties included grave digging, cutting wood for the totally wood fired cremation units and painstakingly sorting the pet’s ashes from the charcoal remains.
He completed a business degree in 1995 and worked in agribusiness around Australia before he and his fiancé Maddie purchased Lawnswood from Lance’s father in 2002.
Lance & Maddie rebuilt the service from a one-man business in decline, to service WA, SA, Victoria, lower NSW and even Alice Springs with a team 76 staff when they sold to Invocare.
Their brand of Edenhills has become well known in south eastern Australia since its start in 2010 while Lawnswood enters its 38th year in WA and the team has grown to around 120 people.
Lance sees his greatest achievements as being able to gradually make himself redundant via the management team and achieve this growth while maintaining quality service and a positive culture with so many employees so spread across Australia.
