Managing Partner & Chief Investment Officer
Paul is the Managing Partner and CIO of Lipman Burgon & Partners, focussing on sophisticated investment solutions for private clients and family offices.
As a founding member of Lipman Burgon & Partners, Paul has embedded a culture that puts clients’ interests ahead of the firm’s growth. He leads the investment and advisory teams and acts as Lead Adviser to family offices, tailoring investment programs, building governance frameworks, and managing succession programs.
With over two decades of experience across market cycles and having previously worked with Goldman Sachs, JBWere and Investec Private Bank, Paul is highly experienced in multi-asset portfolio construction strategies and allocation across public and private market assets. He has deep expertise in allocation modelling and manager due diligence with a network that unlocks unique investment opportunities for clients.
Paul is a key member of Lipman Burgon & Partners’ Investment Committee and has several academic and professional qualifications. These include a Graduate Diploma in Financial Planning, a Master of Applied Finance, and is recognised as a Certified Financial Planner (CFP) and a Certified Investment Management Analyst (CIMA).
For three consecutive years, he has been ranked among Australia’s Top 25 Financial Advisers by US financial investment publication Barron’s.

Jason Coggins brings more than two decades of experience in investment strategy, asset allocation, research, and governance to the Lipman Burgon & Partners (LBP) Investment Committee. His career spans leadership roles across banking, private wealth, and institutional asset consultancy, with a track record of delivering disciplined, innovative, and client-focused investment outcomes.
Alongside his work at Lipman Burgon & Partners, Jason consults to Ellerston Capital on strategy, providing guidance across the firm’s capabilities, leading growth initiatives, and drives engagement with the family office and private wealth sectors. He also serves on the Advisory Board of Ibex Investors, chairs the Investment Committee at Initium Capital, and contributes to the investment governance of several other organisations, including Third Link, Australian Philanthropic Services, and Perks.
From 2014 to 2023, Jason was Partner and Head of Research at Koda Capital, playing a central role in developing the firm’s investment strategy from inception. His responsibilities included asset allocation, portfolio construction, and manager selection for private wealth, family office, and philanthropic portfolios. Under his leadership, Koda’s Investment Strategy Group gained recognition for sourcing and seeding unique, diversifying strategies in the Australian market, and for working closely with some of the country’s largest non-profit organisations and prominent family offices. Earlier in his career, he held senior roles at ANZ Global Wealth and institutional asset consultancy CPG/Grove Financial Services.
Jason’s expertise spans public and private markets, global macro strategy, and alternative assets. He is known for his analytical depth, pragmatic approach, and ability to lead through complexity while maintaining a clear focus on client success.
He holds a Bachelor of Economics and a Bachelor of Business Management from the University of Queensland.

Joanna Sun leads family office design and succession planning at Lipman Burgon Private Office, where she provides strategic guidance to multi-generational families seeking continuity, cohesion, and legacy preservation.
With extensive global experience advising high-net-worth families, Joanna brings a unique cross-cultural perspective to the intricacies of succession and intergenerational planning. Her deep understanding of diverse family values and belief systems enables her to navigate the complex emotional, relational, and governance dynamics that often accompany generational wealth transfer, especially in transnational contexts.
Joanna’s areas of expertise include family enterprise strategy, next-generation development, succession planning, and the creation of effective family office advisory boards. Having grown up within her own family office and lived through the practical and emotional challenges of succession firsthand, she brings authenticity and empathy to her work. Her personal journey has fuelled a deep passion for helping families build robust, values-aligned strategies that endure across generations.
Joanna holds dual Bachelor’s degrees in Business Management and Arts, as well as a Master’s degree in Financial Planning. She has complemented her academic achievements with a suite of professional accreditations that reflect her deep commitment to excellence in family office and governance advisory.
She is a Certified Family Advisor and holds the Advanced Certificate in Family Advising from the US-based Family Firm Institute (FFI). Joanna is also a Certified Executive Chair through the Advisory Board Centre and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) Company Directors Course.
Beyond her professional life, Joanna enjoys running, personal training, and spending time with her two daughters. She is also an accredited Personal Stylist through the Australian Style Institute which provides a creative outlet that reflects her love of fashion and styling.
