Session
Drawing from his personal and academic experiences, Ross explores how identity plays a critical role in family business transitions.
Struck by how few US businesses make it to the third generation, not due to failure but often due to succession issues, he delved deeper into how identity plays a critical role in these transitions. By the third generation (G3), family branches often develop distinct perspectives, which can fragment group identity and hinder effective leadership. Strong family identity—beyond just governance structures—greatly enhances the ability to transition successfully. The more unified the sense of "who we are" as a family, the more effective the succession planning and leadership will be.
We will include a discussion and interactivity to build a framework for strengthening family identity and supporting long-term success.
