Introducing Georgia Barkell - Foundations Peer Group Chair
Background
Georgia Barkell is a finance and investment professional with a strong grounding in financial strategy, complemented by a deep interest in people, relationships and the dynamics that shape outcomes over time.
She is the founder of Kinexis, where she works alongside families as a consigliere, helping to develop and implement right-sized strategy and governance. Her approach brings a risk management lens to the skilful stewardship of family values and wealth across generations.
Georgia brings 25 years of experience across Chartered Accounting, Investment Banking, Technology, Fund Management and Family Office, with a career spanning Australia and the UK and experience with organisations including Deloitte, Westpac and General Electric. She is an experienced Director, Executive and Investor.
A mother of three, Georgia’s deep connection to family is reflected in Anthony Brandt’s words: “Other things may change us, but we start and end with family.” Outside of work, she enjoys travel and languages, snow skiing, music and reading — interests that continue to shape her perspective and curiosity.
Chairing Style
Georgia believes strongly in the value of creating a space where families can learn from one another’s experiences, insights and perspectives through meaningful, well-facilitated discussion. She sees shared lessons and lived experience as powerful foundations for better decisions over time.
She is passionate about democratising information, simplifying complexity and creating an environment where people of all experience levels can contribute with confidence. As Chair, she is particularly motivated by the educational aspect of the role — supporting Members to ask insightful questions, understand their options and make informed decisions.
Areas of Interest
Georgia believes money should serve the goals of the family — not become the goal itself. For her, understanding a family’s values, legacy and purpose provides the foundation for how capital is deployed across every aspect of family life, from investment and philanthropy to developing the next generation and sustaining meaningful connections over time.
She believes a strong foundation in financial concepts serves everyone well, regardless of their background or role. While investment and structuring can often appear complex, the underlying principles are straightforward. With the right framing, these concepts can become accessible to everyone, enabling all family members to participate in conversations with greater confidence.
Georgia’s focus is on making these ideas practical, relevant and accessible, helping families build the knowledge and confidence to engage meaningfully in decisions about their wealth.
