Gary McConaghy

Gary is the Managing Director of McConaghy Properties where he is responsible for the future vision and direction of the McConaghy Family Corporation including the McConaghy Family Office and the family’s current and future investments. 

Gary oversees all Governance requirements for McConaghy Properties and the McConaghy Family Office. Prior to joining McConaghy Properties, Gary held senior development, design and construction roles within Lend Lease Australia.   

Gary joined McConaghy Properties in 2004 and worked alongside Jim McConaghy, the Chairman and Founder. After 10 years working across and leading every department within the business, Gary commenced in the role of CEO in 2014.

Rob Hemphill

Partner, Head of Development, Mutual Trust

As Head of Development, Rob leads Mutual Trust’s business and product development initiatives. His strategic mindset and passion for growth fosters the creation of insightful client solutions across his high performing team.

Rob is also a Partner, Family Office Advisory . In this capacity he leverages his 25 years of experience to provide integrated strategic advice to high -net worth families, helping them to achieve their objectives through the development of bespoke solutions.

What matters most to Rob at Mutual Trust is helping families uncover what is important to them and building deep relationships with these clients, along with working with great team members and mentoring them to learn and grow in their careers.

Prior to joining Mutual Trust in 2004, Rob held roles with Grant Thornton and HSBC.

Rob holds a Bachelor of Business from Charles Sturt University, is a Chartered Accountant and registered tax agent.

Outside of Mutual Trust, Rob is an avid Collingwood supporter, often attending matches with his three daughters . Rob also enjoys keeping fit and active.

Michael Masterson

Joanne McCrae

She was a Partner at Deloitte for over 25 years, including a decade leading New Zealand’s Family Enterprise Consulting practice, working closely with families of significant wealth to support their businesses and succession and governance structures. Joanne’s chairing style encourages meaningful, relevant discussions and active participation from all Members. She fosters shared learning through listening and open dialogue, drawing out diverse perspectives to create rich, collaborative conversations, while recognising the unique needs of each family.

Angela Rutherford

Partner, Family Office Advisory, Mutual Trust

Angela is a Partner in the Family Office Advisory team at Mutual Trust, assisting families with succession planning, asset protection, governance and decision-making, education and philanthropy.

Angela has over 25 years’ experience working with multi-generational families, providing leadership and direction across the design and delivery of financial and non-financial outcomes. This includes implementing strategies for managing family dynamics and guidance for succession planning, transfer of wealth and engagement of the next generation in preparation for transfer of ownership and control.

What matters most to Angela at Mutual Trust is contributing to a culture of inclusion, along with being surrounded by likeminded colleagues who want to make a difference and helping families navigate succession and the transition of family wealth and the challenges which can arise.

Prior to joining Mutual Trust in 2019, Angela was the long-term Managing Director of a prominent philanthropic Melbourne family. Angela’s role in the Single-Family Office was to meet the varied needs and expectations of the multi-generational family members including financial, philanthropic and non-financial and personal interests.

Angela is a Chartered Accountant and a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Outside of Mutual Trust, Angela’s family matters most to her, spending time with her husband and daughters and their partners as well as her extended family and aging parents, usually over a meal.

Dr Sean Simpson

Founder, LanzaTech

Dr. Sean Simpson is the founder of LanzaTech, a company that proposed, developed and commercialised a sustainable fuel and chemical production process, and became a global leader in gas fermentation. Dr. Simpson has over 20 publications and 300 patents. He has received a number of awards including the Presidential Green Chemistry Award, NZ Innovator of the Year Award, and the Kea NZ World Class New Zealander in Science Award.

Since leaving LanzaTech, Dr Simpson has co-founded Ternary Kinetics, a company delivering a system to deliver low-cost, zero emission power through the liquid fuel infrastructure. He sits on the Board of Mint Innovation, Nilo, and Outset Ventures, and is a scientific advisor to Samsara Eco.

Dr Simpson will share insights into Deep Tech technologies being developed and emerging in New Zealand, and their potential for global impact.
